The Bank need to source a provider for onsite IT support for their new dealing rooms in London and Glasgow. A niche market place, most suppliers only provided the services to larger institutions. The challenge was to identify credible suppliers, whilst having a clear statement of requirements for services that were traditionally “just done”.
To determine the right outcome for the bank, both suppliers were invited to tender a proposal. This was fully evaluated with technical and operational interviews conducted with a range of business and technical stakeholders. This process enabled the bank to identify genuine concerns with the preferred provider, and identify sufficient leverage with the new entrant to negotiate a significant cost reduction to the business case.
