The Challenge:

A challenger bank’s Risk function needed a professional services firm to deliver Risk Modelling and Validation for their Internal Ratings Based (IRB) approach strategy. An unsolicited proposal had been received but the Senior Executives needed to consider other firms too, ensuring that as wide a range of expertise was considered for the 2 year programme, with a commercially attractive proposal.

The Solution:

We quickly transformed the business requirements into a clear statement which we then issued to 5 professional service firms.¬†A quick evaluation of proposals, followed by commercial negotiation with the shortlisted firm led to a more robust solution for the bank, and assurance that a single firm (one of the “Big 4”) was able to deliver the complex outcomes over the next 2 years.
